Welcome to my blog! My name is Chris and I live in San Diego, California. I’m 38 years old, married, with two beautiful daughters. I’m an early adopter of technologies, and I love developing websites that use new technologies.
My passions include my family, photography, and Internet development. My hobbies include playing the guitar, running, and skiing. I have lived in Southern California since 1990. Previously I lived in the Northwest.
What’s in your pocket?
This site was called Fully Converged (fullyconverged.com) until September 2007 when I decided to combine my personal blog with my mobile technology blog. My focus will continue to discuss my current phone (Apple iPhone) but you will find a lot of posts regarding my previous phones, a Motorola Q and a Treo 700w. With this new format and new name (chrisTHIS!) I’m excited to be able to blog about virtually anything, including mobile technologies.
What’s in your head?
I’ve had a personal home page in one form or another since the early 1990’s, but none were as organized as this site. I love learning new technologies and putting them to work with new ideas. I pride myself on acting on my ideas and inventions instead of ignoring them. I have a broad knowledge of computer software and hardware, the Internet, technology, protocols, databases, graphics, video, streaming technologies, business and marketing. Having these skills allows me to quickly bring to life new ideas from start to finish, sometimes in the matter of a few days. Many of my current projects are examples of this drive I have.
What would you say ya do here?
“I deal with the goddamn customers so the engineers don’t have to.” (Office Space reference) Today I work for a small company that develops software as a service. In my spare time I work on several other projects that can be seen on my portfolio page. I love to be busy, working on several projects at once. Past employers include Microsoft, SAIC, TEN Magazines, and O’Reilly & Associates.
In my recent past I am best known professionally for creating one of the largest online community web sites for truck enthusiasts, which included Ford Truck World and numerous others that are visited by over a million truck enthusiasts every month. I was also an editor, photographer and writer for a print magazine called “Ford Truck World” with six covers and over 300 editorial pages published nationally on major newsstands.
Dig deeper, back to your Mosaic days…
Going back a little further in time, I was the sole inventor of “WebBoard”, one of the first available web-based forum software packages during the Internet boom of the mid-90’s, I continually strive to push the envelope of online community development. My past life during the late 90’s also included creating four developer news sites (VBWire.com, ASPWire.com, CEWire.com, SQLWire.com) which were later sold to internet.com for an insane amount of money (gotta love the old dot com days!)
A few of my favorite things…
Chargers, Padres, “Office Space“, “Anchorman“, “CSI” (all 3), “Friday Night Lights“, Brian Regan, guitars, Ford trucks, surfing, running, Las Vegas, crème brûlée, Jack Daniels, Coke, mojitos, margaritas, beer, Canon photography, rock music (classic to modern), Wii, iPhone.
Thanks a bunch for reading my blog!
Chris
